Position: Head, Human Resources

Recruiting Firm: PwC Uganda (on behalf of an integrated agricultural & processing client)

Role Overview: Develops and implements HR strategy, oversees key HR functions and legal compliance, and provides strategic guidance to executive management, shareholders, and the board of directors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement HR strategies/initiatives aligned with business objectives.
2. Advise executive management on workforce and people-management matters.
3. Lead talent acquisition, retention, and workforce planning.
4. Develop succession, career, and leadership development programs.
5. Oversee employee/labour relations, union engagement, discipline, and investigations.
6. Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
7. Manage HR operations, departmental budget, and staff development.
8. Analyze workforce trends and prepare quarterly HR reports for the board.

Requirements & Qualifications:

1. Education: Bachelor's (BSc/BA) required; MBA, MSc in HR, or related Master's preferred.
2. Professional Certifications & Memberships:
3. SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP preferred.
4. Registered member of HRMAU (Human Resource Managers' Association of Uganda) required.
5. Experience: 15–20 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR role within a large, labour-intensive manufacturing organisation.
6. Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS platforms.
